Scuola Estiva 2024

Having thought about embarking upon this new adventure, thanks to the encouragement of our amici at the Italian-Canadian Seniors Association the CPLI Scuola Italiana in July 2024 had its first Scuola Estiva camp! Our camp followed the wonderful week spent with our community elders as our students had the opportunity to speak and spend time with them doing activities!

We look forward to having it again in July 2025

Our Scuola Estiva attivitá combined fun with learning ! 

We spent our days outdoors at the local parks and spray park. On our spray park days we took to learning how acquarelli were originally made as we dried off in the sunshine painting.

Our overriding theme for our Scuola Estiva was La Natura del Canada e l'Italia. We started learning about how plants grow, what parts are edible, where certain ones grown in Canada and Italy and learned how they all have unique patterns that can be mathematically determined! We took our inspiration from the leaves on the trees and from there moved onward to expanding our knowledge...

We believe that the best way to learn about ourselves and the world around us is to connect them both and this is what our learning was about: Learning about the nature that is in Italy and Canada, how our roots ground us and the beauty that comes from growing up multilingual and multicultural. 

You can be sure we had time-TANTO tempo-for fun at Scuola Estiva! From on location fieldtrip experiences to days at the spray park, to tending to our orto we spent our days laughing, learning and having summer fun!
